In Chamber of Secrets, Mrs. Weasley emptied her entire bank account which contained only two galleons [£10 / US$20] and she managed to buy all five children’s entire set of books and potion ingredients with this, as well as Ginny’s robes, hat, clock, cauldron, and wand!!! And we know she bought all of these as she mentioned having to buy them. The fact that she bought all of these with only £10 pretty much proves how absolutely ridiculous CNNs estimation is. If you want more proof, the actual cost of Harry’s wand is far over estimated here, and the exact price in both pounds as US dollars can easily be found right within the books! Harry’s wand is bought for seven galleons, a galleon being worth about five pounds [mentioned by JK Rowling in an interview and in FBAWTFT/QTTA] means that his wand was £35, or US$53. mizufae: the tetris scarf progresseth It’s a total pain in the butt, I’ve never sewed so much, but doing the “join as you go” thing wasn’t really going to work. So Instead, I’m sewing as I go, sort of… meticulously working by the diagram and figuring out how to orient things so the ends are in the right place to connect each piece together and not waste yarn down the sides or anything. And I’m making the two different L and Z blocks with different orientations of crochet. Basically each square is 6 chains across and 4 rows of half-double-crochet (that’s yarn over, through the chain & pull up a loop, through 3 loops) high. So the different blocks are made different ways: A long piece is just chain six, chain 2 & turn, 6 hdc across, ch2 & turn, 6 hdc, and make that 16 rows high.  A square piece is 12 chains across & 8 rows of hdc high. The green Z blocks are 12 chains across and then 4 rows of hdc, and then at the end of the 4th row I chain 6 more, then chain 2 and turn and hdc 12 across (6 in the chains I just made, and then 6 over half of the previous rows) and make that 4 rows of hdc high. The red Z blocks are 6 chains across, 4 hdc rows, then chain 6, then four rows of 12 hdc, and then you just end up doing 6 hdc across and turning halfway through for 4 more rows. The L blocks are the same idea, either short horizontal rows of 6 across for 8 rows of hdc and then chaining 6 and doing 4 rows of 12 hdc, or doing 18 chains and making a long thing piece for 4 rows of hdc and then only doing 6 hdc across for the last 4 rows of hdc. The T blocks are the most complicated: you start just like the red Zs, do 6 chains, 4 rows of hdc, then chain 6 and extend it so you’re doing 4 rows of 12 hdc, and then you have to slip stitch back up SEVEN stitches, chain 2 and hdc in the same chain so you can do a short chunk of 4 rows of 6 hdc. I’m trying to decide if a border is needed, like I could sew on black around each block but the crochet gauge is quite large so it might kind of disappear. My BFF says that it’s fine that it looks like this because, and I quote, “CRTs were blurry!” I might end up slip-stiching on both sides, although I’m not totally sure how that would work? I might get my mixed media on and get some thin black ribbon? Hrmmmm. This is the most amazing thing ever!

(I made a chick) sew eggs together only at their openings. stuff the plain egg into the decorated egg to flip just push from the top.  **sorry if it’s hard to follow…i’m seriously half alseep** This is a must!
